About
I'm Muskan Verma, an advertising and marketing writer based in India. I cover digital advertising, AI-driven marketing, and the business of brand communication — with a particular focus on how the Indian advertising market is evolving and what global platform changes mean for marketers here.
I started ThoughtsOfMuskan because I couldn't find the kind of writing about advertising I actually wanted to read. Most industry coverage is either a press release in disguise, or so broad it tells you nothing useful. What I wanted — and couldn't find — was analysis that explained why something matters, not just what happened.
Background
My background is in marketing and communications, with a particular interest in digital advertising, media planning, and how technology platforms shape the choices brands and agencies make. I've spent several years studying and writing about the advertising industry — tracking platform changes at Google, Meta, and Amazon; following regulatory shifts in India and globally; and monitoring how AI is reorganising the work of marketers at every level.
The AI wave has made advertising more interesting and, honestly, more chaotic than at any point in the last decade. Platforms are automating decisions that used to require human judgement. Attribution is getting harder as consumer journeys become more fragmented. And the tools advertisers use every day — from campaign management to creative production — are being rebuilt from the ground up.
I write about all of it, as clearly and directly as I can.
What you'll find here
- Analysis of digital advertising and media — what platforms are building, how pricing is changing, what it means for marketers
- AI in marketing coverage — specifically how automation is changing what agencies do, what brands can control, and what gets lost
- The Indian advertising market — which is moving faster than most people outside it realise, and which has its own dynamics that don't map cleanly onto Western frameworks
- Brand strategy and accountability — the relationship between spending, brand equity, and long-term business outcomes
Editorial standards
I don't write PR. I don't cover things because a company sent me a pitch deck. Everything on this site reflects my own analysis and editorial judgement. I correct errors promptly and transparently when I get things wrong.
